Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster for the Marine Short Tail team within the London Market claims function. You will lead claims, ensure timely handling, and promote Markel's Claims Value Proposition through proactive engagement with brokers and clients.

The role requires ACII accreditation or progression toward it, with strong expertise in Marine Cargo and Fine Art/Specie knowledge. You will work closely with underwriting and actuarial teams to optimize outcomes and client

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading complex or high-value claims.
• Strong understanding of Marine Short Tail claims handling.
• Able to analyse data to improve underwriting and loss performance.
• Excellent communication with brokers, clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive claims forward in line with Marks's philosophy and objectives.
• Handle claims in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and reserving practices.
• Deliver a customer-focused claims service with speed and clear communications.
• Produce quality narratives and reports for management and monthly/quarterly reviews.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial and reinsurance teams to share learnings and feedback.
• Take a leadership role on selected classes of business and develop junior team members.
