Job summary

Kraken is building a scalable database platform that supports global services and high-traffic operations. You will join a senior team of DBAs and SREs responsible for MariaDB/MySQL deployments, tuning, and reliability at scale, working with Kubernetes and IaC to enable safe, auditable workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years operating MariaDB/MySQL in high-volume production environments.
• Strong understanding of high-availability patterns and distributed database behavior.
• Hands-on experience with database proxies or load-balancing layers (HAProxy, ProxySQL, MaxScale).
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Solid cloud, Linux and networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Scale and tune high-throughput MariaDB clusters to support global expansion.
• Strengthen disaster-recovery and backup approaches with sound design and validated procedures.
• Automate operational workflows to reduce manual work and improve process consistency.
• Improve observability and alert quality across environments.
• Enhance database security with robust access controls and upgrade practices.
• Contribute to modern platform initiatives including containerized environments and IaC workflows.
• Collaborate with service teams to drive better performance patterns and database hygiene.
