Job summary

Kraken is building the future of open finance and expanding a global database platform. You will join a senior team of DBAs and SREs to scale distributed MariaDB environments, drive automation, and improve reliability across services.

This role emphasizes high‑availability, security, and scalable operations as Kraken grows globally. You will own tuning, observability, and on‑call readiness, partnering with engineering teams to deliver robust, auditable workflows and repeatable deployment

Qualifications

• 5+ years operating MariaDB/MySQL in high-volume production.
• Experience with replication and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of high-availability patterns and distributed DB behavior.
• CI/CD, GitOps, and IaC workflows experience.
• Solid cloud, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes at scale.
• Security, access control, and incident readiness.

Responsibilities

• Scale and tune MariaDB clusters for global expansion.
• Strengthen high-availability, DR, and backup approaches.
• Reduce manual work by building automation and workflows.
• Improve observability and alert quality across environments.
• Enhance database security with access controls and patching.
• Contribute to containerized environments and IaC workflows.
• Partner with service teams to improve performance and hygiene.
• Participate in on-call rotations with preventative engineering.
