Job summary

An established science and manufacturing SME in Rochester is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead and transform manufacturing operations. The role covers production planning, quality, supply chain and operational improvement across low-volume electronics assembly, box-build, clean room and testing activities.

You will report to the Managing Director, drive Lean initiatives, NPI and continuous improvement while building a high-performing team in a regulated, ISO-friendly

Qualifications

• Proven leadership within manufacturing, operations or production.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, planning and supply chain.
• Experience improving productivity, quality and delivery via continuous improvement.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management.
• Ability to collaborate across functions (manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain).
• Curious, proactive, resilient and detail-oriented with accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing operations and strategy, ensuring safe, compliant production of high-quality instrumentation.
• Oversee production planning, capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Develop KPIs, dashboards and reporting for data-driven decisions.
• Drive Lean initiatives, productivity improvements and cost optimisation.
• Lead NPI, process scale-up and transitions for current/future products.
• Manage supply chain, inventory, logistics and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Lead risk management, business continuity and audit readiness.
• Oversee facilities, maintenance and contractor management.
• Drive systems optimisation, automation and ERP/MRP usage.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Scientific, Commercial and Senior Leadership.
