Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation of aerospace products.
  • Demonstrated experience of AS9145 APQP is highly desirable.

What to expect

The Manufacturing Engineering Industrialisation team leads the New Product Introduction and industrialisation of the manufacturing and assembly systems needed to take our VX4 aircraft from prototype to full production. We deliver Manufacturing Engineering excellence to the business to enable the NPI and industrialisation of our products and bring them to market.

The Manufacturing Engineer – Aircraft will support the development and industrialisation of Vertical Aerospace manufacturing systems to support our products entry to low-rate production. The ME - aircraft will also lead the industrialisation of the manufacturing systems to support the increase in production volume required to meet our targets. This role is crucial to Vertical Aerospace’s successful entry to low-rate production and will be instrumental in defining the necessary changes in the manufacturing systems required to meet our production volumes.

What you'll do

Responsible for the delivery of Manufacturing Engineering elements of APQP (AS9145)

• Integrate and lead Supply Chain capability assessment and technical supplier engagement

• Support the definition of Manufacturing Engineering best practice

• Define and deliver manufacturing systems for the production of the VX4 aircraft

• Develop and industrialise Vertical Aerospace manufacturing capabilities

• Embed lean manufacturing principles into Vertical Aerospace Production facilities

• Lead and embed Design for Manufacture (DfM) within our products with a strong emphasis on Composite manufacturing

• Lead development of Manufacturing capabilities for Vertical aerospace including identification of best techniques required for Vertical products.

• Lead Supplier PPAP work and technical approvals required

What you'll bring

We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences:

• 8-10+ years in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering

• Strong ability to deal with ambiguity

• Demonstrated experience of AS9145 APQP is highly desirable

• Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation of aerospace products with a particular focus on the manufacture of

• Experience in aircraft component manufacture is highly desirable

• Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills
