Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead projects resolving key manufacturing and process issues while driving site goals.

You will oversee the Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling Design teams, develop efficient systems and procedures, and advance CAPEX, automation and continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity, quality and cost performance.

Qualifications

  • Industry-standard engineering qualification required, e.g. HND/HNC or NVQ Level 4.
  • Kaizen and continuous improvement project delivery experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and improvement techniques.
  • Experience in quality assurance and capacity planning.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Minitab, Excel and Access.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to resolve key manufacturing issues and support site goals.
  • Oversee Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling Design teams; develop processes.
  • Drive CAPEX projects, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and deliver lean manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Support NPI activities including PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP.
  • Manage budgets and provide technical training to production teams.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead projects and initiatives to resolve key manufacturing and process issues and achieve site goals and objectives. You will oversee the Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling Design teams, developing effective engineering systems, processes and procedures while supporting production in key operational areas. The role will also drive CAPEX projects, automation initiatives and continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, quality, delivery and cost performance.

How You Will Do It
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Support Production and Quality teams with problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities.
  • Prioritise team activities based on business needs and operational benefit.
  • Support strategic decision-making and implementation of key initiatives.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Kaizen projects.
  • Identify, evaluate and deliver CAPEX improvement projects.
  • Improve process lead times through automation and manufacturing process optimisation.
  • Support NPI activities including PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP.
  • Identify skills and capability gaps within the engineering team.
  • Monitor and communicate departmental KPIs, engineering activities and project progress.
  • Ensure site health and safety goals are achieved.
  • Manage departmental budgets and provide technical support and training to production teams.
What We Are Looking For
Required
  • HND/HNC or NVQ Level 4 in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge with experience delivering Kaizen and continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of manufacturing processes and improvement techniques.
  • Experience in quality assurance and capacity planning.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including Minitab, Excel and Access.
  • Experience within high-volume manufacturing environments.
Beneficial
