Job summary

TransUnion is seeking a Manager II, Accounting in Leeds to lead the revenue accounting function for Europe. You will ensure compliance with ASC 606 and IFRS 15, manage closes, and oversee related costs while partnering with Sales, Legal, and FP&A across geographies.

You will drive process improvements, support UK statutory reporting, and lead three UK-based reports plus offshore associates, contributing to a wide finance transformation program.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and IFRS 15 and applying them to complex transactions.
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification supporting technical accounting and reporting responsibilities.
  • Experience accounting for complex customer contracts, including multi-element arrangements and deferred revenue.
  • Proven leadership of finance professionals and senior stakeholders across geographies.

Team Overview

The European Finance team supports accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the Europe business and for our US parent organisation. The team partners with commercial, operational and Group Finance stakeholders to strengthen financial controls and enable informed decision‑making. This role reports directly to the European Controller and forms part of the wider Finance Leadership Team. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in‑person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the revenue accounting function for Europe, serving as the primary subject matter expert for revenue recognition matters.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, including ASC 606, and IFRS 15 by reviewing customer contracts, complex arrangements, pricing structures and non-standard terms.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including revenue reporting, reconciliations, journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee accounting for revenue‑related costs, including sales and partner commissions.
  • Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, FP&A, Operations and Group Finance to assess commercial arrangements and provide accounting guidance.
  • Support UK statutory reporting and US group reporting requirements relating to revenue.
  • Maintain and strengthen revenue accounting policies, procedures, SOX controls and the wider internal control framework.
  • Manage external audit relationships and support revenue‑related audit requests and technical accounting discussions.
  • Lead and develop three UK-based direct reports and oversee associates within the offshore shared service centre.
  • Drive automation, process improvement, finance transformation, system implementations and revenue‑related special projects.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASC 606 and IFRS 15, with the ability to apply these standards to complex business transactions.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, supporting the technical accounting and financial reporting responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience accounting for complex customer contracts, including multi‑element arrangements, variable consideration, contract modifications and deferred revenue.
  • Proven experience leading finance professionals and managing senior stakeholders across functions, geographies and matrixed organisations.
Required Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, IFRS 15, SOX requirements and internal control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management capabilities.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning systems and revenue accounting or automation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting matters to commercial and operational stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting finance transformation, systems implementation or process‑improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query and data analytics to automate reconciliations, develop dashboards and enhance revenue reporting.
