We are looking for a Senior Manager of Engineering to join our Christchurch team!

In this role, you will be responsible to lead the Mobility and Industrial Team to ensure delivery of all technical deliverables (external and internal) to cost, quality and schedule. Critically the Senior Manager of Engineering shall ensure that appropriate processes are implemented to ensure the management of technical risk and that appropriate measures are used to evaluate and monitor technical performance

  • Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
  • Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of safety, price, quality and delivery targets and which will enable the company to function and compete effectively in the market
  • Determine, set and deliver goals and objectives for the department in line with the company’s strategic aims and objectives
  • Ensure the appropriate systems and procedures are established, used and developed, to deliver best practice in engineering
  • Develop and maintain appropriate SQEP levels for all engineering functions
  • Ensure technical gateway reviews are regularly and effectively conducted to drive, plan, monitor and control the delivery of engineering solutions to schedule, budget and to the agreed quality level
  • Escalate and manage technical risks and issues and perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
  • Identify and deploy technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement if external resources as required
  • Constantly promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement activities

Curtiss-Wright Industrial Division, which includes the product brands of Arens Controls, Penny & Giles, PG Drives Technology and Williams Controls, is an excellent supplier in providing components and sub-systems which enable customer specific solutions for on- and off-highway vehicles. These include medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses and motor coaches, construction and agricultural vehicles, materials handling, and other specialty vehicles, as well as sophisticated wheelchairs and scooters for medical mobility.
