Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 Per Annum (plus bonus and benefits)

Our client is a growing lender seeking to hire a Senior Manager, Finance Risk and Control. This is a new role and the first line of Risk & Control within the Finance function. The role will ensure Finance compliance with regulations and promote a culture of risk-based decision-making and robust controls. The successful candidate will lead and develop the Finance Risk & Control team, working closely with the Finance leadership, Risk, Audit Committee, Internal & External Auditors. Key responsibilities include defining and understanding risk indicators, managing financial risks, overseeing risk incidents, creating MI and reporting packs, and completing risk & control assessments.

Responsibilities:

1. Identify, evaluate, and document risks associated with Finance operations and processes across Finance in a formal risk register.
2. Develop, implement, and manage Finance Risk Management governance and reporting capabilities.
3. Maintain the Finance Model Inventory and ensure compliance with the Model Risk Policy.
4. Represent Finance at Risk & Controls Committee meetings where appropriate.
5. Lead risk assessments (RCSA) to identify and monitor risk mitigation actions addressing root causes.
6. Recommend and deliver actions to enable migration to controls-based audit approaches.
7. Document, challenge, and develop an end-to-end view of the finance operating environment, identifying key risks, controls, and processes impacting Finance.
8. Assess risks, document processes and controls, and conduct assurance activities, including testing control effectiveness and monitoring.
9. Conduct control identification activities through walkthroughs and process mapping.
10. Identify control gaps and weaknesses, ensuring timely and proper mitigation.
11. Manage and report risks, controls, issues, incidents, and remediation actions.
12. Perform control testing to identify gaps and implement remediation plans.
13. Collaborate with cross-functional and Finance teams to improve control design, develop new processes and controls, and embed good risk practices.
14. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of controls and processes.
15. Manage and report on the risk and control environment, including risks, controls, issues, incidents, and remedial actions.
16. Oversee resolution of Finance Risk & Control findings to ensure timely completion.
17. Monitor progress of audit actions to ensure they are implemented effectively.
18. Partner with the Risk function to develop and deliver risk management training and communication initiatives for Finance.
