Our Belfast office is a successful and growing one thanks to a large and varied client base ranging from multinational listed businesses to start-ups, owner-managed firms, and private equity/entrepreneurial ventures, covering various sectors. The role offers the opportunity to gain experience in the mid-market and enhance your skills working with both national and international businesses.

The opportunity

As part of our Belfast-based business tax advisory team, you’ll provide a full range of business tax advisory services. You’ll work alongside specialists daily to broaden your experience in different business tax areas, helping clients with tax planning (UK and international), and supporting merger and acquisition transactions through tax due diligence and structuring. The work includes corporate and shareholder reorganisations, restructuring, acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, BEPS, and international tax, offering broad experience with exposure to senior stakeholders, responsibility in key decisions, and a diverse portfolio to develop your career with EY.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage and coordinate the delivery of business tax advisory services, ensuring technical excellence and practical, business-driven solutions.
2. Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing high-quality deliverables that add value.
3. Develop internal relationships to identify opportunities and provide deep specialist assistance.
4. Contribute to winning new work by managing existing clients proactively and building relationships within the business community.
5. Support the development of junior team members through coaching and mentorship.

To Qualify for the Role, You Must:

• Be an experienced senior manager with UK corporate tax experience.
• Have managed and worked on business tax advisory projects, including restructuring, due diligence, and structuring for acquisitions, with a solid UK compliance background and international tax knowledge preferred.
• Stay updated on changes in the tax environment (BEPS, CBCR, etc.).
• Proven track record in business development with existing clients and new targets.
• Experience in managing and coaching others.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to deliver financial metrics.
• Creative and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
