Job description

We are seeking a Senior Manager - Business Risk to join our team. In this critical role, you will lead our business risk management efforts, developing and implementing strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across our organization.

Our Business Risk team is a 1LoD team covering Conduct & Operational Risk as well as Oversight across Shawbrook's Commercial Bank. The Commercial Bank offers mortgages and SME lending.

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive risk management strategies and policies
  • Lead risk assessment processes, including identification, analysis, and evaluation of potential risks to the organization
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate risk management into strategic decision-making processes
  • Manage a team of risk professionals, providing guidance and mentorship to enhance their skills and performance
  • Design and implement risk monitoring systems and key risk indicators (KRIs) to track and report on risk exposure
  • Conduct regular risk reviews and prepare detailed reports for executive management and the board of directors
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Facilitate risk awareness training programs for employees across the organization
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and external consultants
  • Stay abreast of emerging risks and industry trends to proactively address potential threats to the organization
The Person
  • Extensive knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and frameworks
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully implementing risk management initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and risk management software
  • Outstanding leadership abilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts to diverse audiences
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and corporate governance principles
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Experience in strategic planning and the ability to align risk management with organizational objectives
