Job summary

DC Thomson in Scotland is seeking a Senior Management Accountant for a 12-month maternity cover. The role focuses on ownership of management reporting, strengthening financial controls and partnering with stakeholders to turn financial data into actionable insights.

You will join a collaborative finance team and have the opportunity to influence processes, support budgeting and planning, and contribute to continuous improvement within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Progress towards ACCA/CIMA or ACA qualification.
• Experience in management or financial accounting.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including month-end processes.
• Ability to analyse financial data and communicate insights clearly.
• Experience with budgets and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and reports.
• Lead month-end activities: journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations.
• Analyse performance and identify risks and opportunities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and planning across the business.
• Partner with Finance Business Partners and operations to drive improvement.
• Identify and implement reporting and control improvements.
• Support internal and external audits and governance.
• Coach junior team members as appropriate.
