Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a Major Projects Design Engineer to provide detailed estimates for client projects and maintain existing contracts, while seeking new opportunities.

You will act as an ambassador, ensuring high standards of design and cost planning across the project lifecycle. You will design/engineer fire safety and electronic security systems, use Aspirating Smoke Detection design software, and coordinate with delivery teams to deliver compliant, profitable solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing/engineering fire safety, electronic security and associated systems.
• Knowledge of BS Compliant Design requirements.
• Conversant with Aspirating Smoke Detection System design software.
• Knowledge of enterprise level Electronic Security Systems and integrated Security Management systems.
• Conversant with IT systems such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Ability to understand technical specifications.
• Be a strong communicator, self confident with exceptional relationship building skills.
• Have strong customer facing skills and exceptional customer service skills.
• Specific attention to detail and be able to work on your own initiative.
• Have a professional approach, be self-motivating with drive and initiative.
• Valid driving license is essential, with the ability to visit client sites.
• Good sales and networking skills.
• Technical document/proposal writing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.
• Keep existing contracts up to date, including amendments, new cost estimates, and client communication.
• Produce detailed technical designs that are fully co-ordinated and achieve Status A or B approval at Construction stage.
• Adhere to company standards when analysing estimations, maximise profit and customer satisfaction while minimising risks.
• Prepare detailed and well-written proposals for each client, adhering to guidelines and including supplementary documentation.
• Maintain relationships with existing clients and build new client relationships.
• Work with the delivery team to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects.
• Keep detailed records of all design and estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms.
• Prepare and submit accurate cost/sales documents, including client schedules of rates.
• Balance multiple proposals and estimations, ensure timely delivery to the client.
• Liaise with other departments to maintain business development and innovative profitable outcomes.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2004 compliance.
