Job summary

New Appointments Group is recruiting a Senior Maintenance Engineer for our Sittingbourne site. You will lead a small team of engineers while actively maintaining production machinery and improving reliability.

This role requires strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, plus a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to lead by example.
• Good IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting a small team of Maintenance Engineers.
• Providing technical guidance, support and mentoring to the engineering team.
• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
• Maintaining production machinery, conveyors, material handling systems, granulators and ancillary equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
• Developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
• Using a structured and methodical approach to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Liaising with external technical support where required.
• Ensuring maintenance activities meet health & safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the Agility system.
• Identifying opportunities to improve machine availability, reliability and efficiency.
• Supporting continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
