Alignerr is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Expert to help build foundational training data for next-generation language models. You will design and validate step-by-step reasoning traces, focusing on planning, tool use, and decision quality in real-world tasks.

This fully remote, hourly contract role offers flexible hours (10–40 hours/week) and the chance to collaborate with leading researchers on scalable ML reasoning pipelines and AI evaluation frameworks.

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in machine learning could directly influence how the next generation of AI systems reason, plan, and make decisions? We're looking for Senior Machine Learning Experts to help build the foundational training data that teaches large language models how to think — step by step, in real-world scenarios.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for experienced ML professionals who understand model architecture, reasoning pipelines, and what separates good AI outputs from great ones.

What You'll Do

• Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces that capture how an LLM should plan, use tools, and make decisions to solve real technical tasks
• Design structured, step-by-step decision-making data that trains AI models to reason more reliably in production environments
• Review and refine reasoning traces contributed by others, ensuring logical coherence, planning quality, and tool-use accuracy
• Develop data strategies for navigating intricate, multi-step problem scenarios that push model capabilities forward
• Apply senior-level architectural insight to validate that traces reflect sound, expert-level machine learning thinking

Who You Are

• Experienced machine learning professional with a strong foundation in model reasoning, training pipelines, or AI systems design
• Skilled at decomposing complex technical problems into clear, logical, well-documented steps
• Familiar with how large language models are trained, evaluated, and improved
• Detail-oriented — you notice when a reasoning chain breaks down or when a decision step is unclear or missing
• Comfortable working independently and asynchronously, producing high-quality work without hand-holding

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assurance, or AI evaluation systems
• Top-tier Kaggle competition results (Grandmaster or Master level), demonstrating elite model performance and feature engineering skills
• Hands-on experience designing or auditing LLM evaluation frameworks
• Background in AI safety, alignment research, or model interpretability
