Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer to design rigorous engineering problems and ground-truth solutions for AI models.

Remote hourly contract, 10–40 hours/week, open to engineers pursuing or with a Master’s/PhD in mechanical fields. You will audit AI reasoning for CAD, thermodynamics, and materials, and help improve model thinking across core mechanical domains.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
• Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly in written form
• Detail-oriented with high precision in reviewing derivations, unit conversions, and constraints
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
• No prior AI experience required

Responsibilities

• Design advanced, multi-domain engineering problems including FEA, heat transfer, and mechatronics.
• Author step-by-step ground-truth solutions for AI learning and evaluation.
• Audit AI reasoning and check CAD, thermodynamics, and material specs for safety and standards.
• Identify and correct failures; provide feedback to improve model accuracy.
• Improve model thinking across core mechanical domains.

Mechanical Engineering AI Trainer

About The Role

We’re partnering with the world’s leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need expert mechanical engineers to make it happen.

• Location: Remote
• Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You’ll Do

• Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI performance
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
• Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
• Identify & Correct Failures — Spot logical flaws in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or faulty stress analyses — and provide structured feedback to improve model accuracy
• Improve Model Thinking — Help AI systems develop stronger, more reliable reasoning processes across core mechanical engineering domains

Who You Are

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
• Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
• Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly in written form
• Detail-oriented with high precision when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
• No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
• Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
• Familiarity with reviewing or auditing technical documentation
