Job summary

Baker Harding Limited in Leeds (LS11) is seeking an experienced Switchgear Engineer to join our established family-owned business. You will provide technical support, tendering input and supplier liaison across LV & HV switchgear projects.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five years' experience in switchgear engineering, sales or tendering, with knowledge of BS EN IEC 61439/62271 and UK distribution standards.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential.
Minimum 5 years in LV/HV switchgear engineering, sales or tendering.
Knowledge of BS EN IEC 61439 and BS EN IEC 62271 standards.

Responsibilities

Review technical specifications, SLDs and estimate RMU, LV cabinets and feeder pillar prices for Sales engineers and tenders.
Coordinate with purchasing and maintain up-to-date supplier prices, issue enquiries and follow up quotes.
BOM: establish and select components to fulfil customer specifications.
Drawing approvals to suppliers.
Monitor supplier materials issues and suggest alternatives; communicate with suppliers.
Visit supplier premises for process checks and inspection when needed.
Develop new suppliers for various products.
Provide technical support, calculations and specifications for all Group departments.
Handle technical queries from customers and assist with customer visits.
Contact suppliers for technical support if needed.
Review tender specs and advise Sales engineers.
Provide technical support for all Group projects.
Collaborate with third party consultants where appropriate.
