Qualifications

• Experience with switchgear, control panels or electrical distribution equipment.
• Strong understanding of LV/MV electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of protection, control and distribution equipment.
• Relevant electrical/electronic engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication across engineering, production and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Review technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements.
• Support design and engineering of LV/MV switchgear and distribution systems.
• Produce and review electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Select components, protection devices and switchgear equipment.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams.
• Carry out or support FAT, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot electrical and switchgear faults.
• Work with project managers, customers, suppliers, and site teams.
• Ensure designs and installations comply with standards and safety requirements.

As an Electrical Switchgear Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting switchgear projects from initial technical requirements through to manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.

• Reviewing technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements
• Supporting the design and engineering of LV/MV switchgear and electrical distribution systems
• Producing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
• Selecting appropriate components, protection devices and switchgear equipment
• Providing technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams
• Carrying out or supporting FAT, testing and commissioning
• Troubleshooting electrical and switchgear-related faults
• Working closely with project managers, customers, suppliers and site teams
• Ensuring designs and installations comply with relevant electrical standards and safety requirements

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with switchgear, control panels or electrical distribution equipment
• A strong understanding of LV and/or MV electrical systems
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
• Knowledge of protection, control and distribution equipment
• A relevant electrical/electronic engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, production and project teams
