Job summary

Blue Zoo Production is seeking a Look Development Artist to shape the visual identity across ZooLab projects, long-form and feature animation. You will establish visual language and Look Dev standards, working with Directors and Supervisors to develop high-quality production-ready assets.

The role covers shading, texturing, surfacing, grooming and lighting, with emphasis on artistic quality, problem-solving and collaboration. Flexible, hybrid and remote options are available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in CG/animation pipelines with cross-department dependencies.
• Strong Look Development portfolio with character/environment surfacing.
• Experience turning briefs into production-ready Look Dev assets.
• Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to mentor junior artists.
• Great eye for detail, color, and lighting.
• Ability to learn new software quickly.
• Experience with shading and material creation.
• Knowledge of color management and pipelines.
• Experience with render optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with grooming plugins such as Ornatrix, Xgen, Yeti.
• Scripting in Python or Mel.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain Look Development standards across the project.
• Create reusable assets: templates, master shaders, lighting setups.
• Collaborate with Directors, Supervisors and CG teams to manage risks.
• Ensure production-ready, efficient Look Dev setups with performance in mind.
• Provide guidance and feedback to Look Development Artists.
• Lead planning and distribution of Look Development work.
