Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Devon is seeking a Head of Litigation & Disputes to lead a team handling complex, high-value disputes. The role combines fee-earning work with strategic leadership and business development in a hybrid-working environment.

The successful candidate will manage a broad caseload, provide commercial guidance, draft pleadings and settlements, and mentor junior staff. At least 5 years’ PQE as a solicitor is required, with a strong civil litigation background.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitors with at least 5 years' PQE.
• Strong knowledge of civil litigation and dispute resolution.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Commercially aware with leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of litigation and high-value disputes.
• Provide commercial legal advice to clients.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, applications and settlement agreements.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation.
• Lead and develop junior fee earners and support staff.
• Contribute to departmental planning and growth.
• Build relationships with clients and referrers.
• Support business development and regulatory risk management.
