Job summary

Bank of England in Leeds is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to support the Linux platform across physical, virtual, and OpenShift environments. You will work with Compute, Storage, Networks, Oracle, and DevOps teams to design, implement, and improve automation, security, and reliability.

The role emphasizes modern engineering practices, automation, and incident response within a secure, air-gapped environment, with a hybrid working model and occasional travel to the London office.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills in an enterprise environment (e.g. RHEL)
• Experience deploying, operating, and supporting Linux on physical and virtual infrastructure
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible or equivalent technologies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform or equivalent technologies
• Understanding of Linux security principles, system hardening, and compliance practices
• Experience with platform lifecycle management tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, or equivalent technologies
• Experience scripting with Bash or Python to automate tasks

• Ensuring platform reliability, availability, and operational stability

• Security hardening, patching, and compliance
• Platform integration across compute, storage, network, database, and container technologies

• Communicating technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
