Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates Ltd. is seeking a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month assignment with an option to extend. Location: London or Glasgow with hybrid working.

An active security clearance is preferred, and a strong Linux background is essential. The role involves supporting enterprise Linux platforms in secure public sector environments, building development environments, containerising services, and applying Agile/DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise Linux platforms in secure public sector environments.
• Strong Linux engineering experience across stability, performance, security and troubleshooting.
• Experience delivering Linux-based development activities including development environments and containerisation.
• Experience with Agile and DevOps working practices.
• Familiarity with virtualised networking using VMware/Hyper-V.
• Understanding of common services/protocols: HTTPS, SSH, DNS, NTP, SSL.
• Experience with Ansible automation.
• Experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience managing Ceph storage or Linux storage environments.
• Desirable RHCSA/RHCE/LFCS certifications.

Summer-Browning Associates is currently supporting our central government client, which is seeking a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer for an initial 12-month assignment, with the option to extend.

Location: London or Glasgow - Hybrid working

The ideal candidate will hold an active security clearance and possess a strong background in Linux engineering, demonstrating the following skills and experience:

• Experience supporting enterprise Linux platforms in secure public sector environments.
• Extensive knowledge of system stability, performance, security, and troubleshooting across various Linux-based services.
  Significant experience in delivering Linux-based development activities, including building and maintaining development environments, as well as containerising applications and services.
• Demonstrated experience with Agile and DevOps working practices.
• Familiarity with virtualised networking principles and platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
• A solid understanding of common services, applications, and protocols, including HTTPS, SSH, DNS, NTP, and SSL.
• Experience with the open-source automation tool Ansible.
• Experience working in a cloud infrastructure environment, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in managing Ceph storage or Linux storage environments.
• Desirable qualifications include: RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator), Red Hat Certified Engineer, or LFCS (Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator).
