Job summary

GAP Group Limited is seeking a Senior TIC Engineer to lead inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of lifting and working at height equipment. The role involves site-based work across the North of England, with reporting and certification for equipment, including failed items.

You will perform proof load testing on components, conduct site surveys when needed, and help upskill the TIC team while supporting the depot network with bespoke solutions.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within the lifting equipment industry with excellent product knowledge.
• Multiple LEEA qualifications including Runways & Crane Structures and/or Overhead Travelling Cranes.
• Manufacturer & Industry Training (e.g., CSCS, IPAF, Confined Space, Working at Height, PASMA, etc).
• Competent in accordance with LOLER.
• IT literate.
• Valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, function test, repair and maintain lifting and working at height equipment.
• Carry out proof load testing of equipment such as runway beams, davit sockets, swing jibs and lift shaft eyes; produce reports/certification.
• Occasionally carry out site surveys and advise customers on correct selection and use of lifting equipment.
• Support the lifting depot network by maintaining the hire fleet and upskilling team members.
• Provide customers with bespoke lifting solutions to queries.

About the role

The role of GAP Lifting Hire & Sales offers one of the largest ranges of lifting equipment and accessories in the industry. GAP Lifting's TIC team are responsible for managing and scheduling the Test, Inspection and Certification of lifting and working at height equipment – whether it is harnesses in the Highlands or cranes in Cornwall, we cover it. We can also repair, service, install and supply any equipment to meet your requirements.

The Senior TIC Engineer role is primarily site based and will involve the inspection, function testing, repair and maintenance of lifting and working at height equipment. This role will also include proof load testing of equipment such as runway beams, davit sockets, swing jibs and lift shaft eyes and basic installations whilst producing reports / certification for equipment, including detailed reporting on failed items.

Occasionally you will carry out site surveys and advise customers on the correct selection and use of lifting equipment. In addition, the TIC team support the lifting depot network by maintaining the hire fleet, upskilling members of the team and providing customers with bespoke solutions to lifting based queries.

Please note, this role will involve extensive travel across the North of England and so we are flexible on candidate locations.

About You
