Job summary

JK Lifting Ltd. seeks an Engineering Services Supervisor to lead engineering activities across lifting, inspection and site work. You will stay hands-on while supervising engineers, setting standards and driving safety and quality on allocated projects.

You’ll translate operational plans into well-resourced, professional engineering delivery, coaching engineers and apprentices and liaising with customers and internal teams. A strong Appointed Person background is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Substantial practical engineering experience within the lifting industry, with strong knowledge of lifting equipment, inspection, testing and site operations.
• Appointed Person qualification with practical experience would be advantageous.
• Experience leading engineers or site teams and delivering engineering work.
• Strong knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and safe systems of work.
• Ability to plan and produce RAMS and lifting plans and supporting documentation.
• Confident, customer-facing communicator with stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 and inspection/job-management systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on as a senior lifting engineer, undertaking inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, fault-finding and related activities.
• Lead site projects from survey to close-out, acting as JK Lifting’s senior engineering representative on site.
• Direct and coordinate engineers on site, set clear expectations and ensure safe, high-quality delivery.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching and support to engineers and apprentices.
• Carry out site visits and surveys to assess scope, access, equipment and resources.
• Communicate with Operations on engineer allocation, equipment, timings and plan changes.
• Prepare, review and support RAMS, lifting plans, inspection records and reports.
• Plan and lead lifting operations within competence and fulfil Appointed Person duties where qualified.
• Escalate safety, commercial or resource concerns promptly and effectively.
• Maintain communication with customers, site reps, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Liaise with project and design teams on bespoke equipment and project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, standards and JK Lifting procedures.
• Verify that documentation and records are complete and accurate.
• Identify additional customer requirements and opportunities during site activity.
• Remain flexible for night/weekend/24-hour project requirements when needed.
• Carry out other duties consistent with seniority and technical role.
