Job summary

Munich Re Group, UK Life, London, is seeking a Senior Underwriter to support Life, Critical Illness and Disability business across the UK and Ireland markets. The role combines independent assessment of referrals with high-quality client advice, audits, and process improvements, strengthening underwriting quality and client confidence.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in UK Life and protection underwriting.
• Ability to exercise independent technical judgement, articulate difficult decisions and balance service, risk and commercial considerations.
• Experience of working with insurers, reinsurers or other external stakeholders.
• Excellent written communication, structured analysis, presentation and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the assessment of large, unusual and complex Life, Critical Illness and Disability referrals within agreed authority limits; provide timely, evidence-based decisions and clear rationale.
• Provide pragmatic, commercially aware advice taking into account risk selection and client outcomes.
• Plan and undertake client underwriting audits and process assessments, with follow-up actions and improvements.
• Lead or participate in projects and cross-functional initiatives; communicate progress and manage dependencies.
• Represent Munich Re professionally in client forums and industry events.
