Job summary

Roche is seeking a Legal Counsel to support the General Counsel in the UK and Ireland, advising on UK GDPR, commercial pharmaceutical law, and regulatory compliance. You will work across data privacy, contracts, and clinical trial agreements to protect the company’s interests.

Ideal candidates have 2–6 years PQE, strong negotiation skills, and experience in life sciences. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and ensuring ethical business practices within Roche’s Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in England and Wales.
• 2–6 years PQE in life sciences helpful.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and UK commercial pharmaceutical law.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating agreements with diverse business units.
• Experience in data, digital and AI from a legal perspective.
• Familiarity with medical device regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Data Protection Operations: oversee data privacy matters across the affiliate, handle DSRs and privacy incidents with DP Officer escalation.
• Provide UK and Ireland legal support on commercial pharmaceutical matters, including competition, marketing, data protection, anti-bribery, and disputes.
• Ensure ethical compliance with Roche Group Code of Conduct.
• Advise global and local R&D teams on regulatory requirements and CTAs.
• Support business to ensure activities are legally compliant and commercially sound.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks from legislative changes and align with business planning.
