Job Description

Role: Senior Legal Counsel (maternity cover – 1-year fixed term) – commercial contracts lawyer

Location: 45 minutes from Bristol and Cheltenham, with 2-3 days in the office per week

We are recruiting for a Senior Legal Counsel to cover a one-year maternity leave, joining the global legal, company secretarial, and compliance team (“L&S”).

You will report to the Group Legal Director based in the UK and collaborate with senior stakeholders, including divisional and functional heads.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a primary contact for senior stakeholders across various business units to influence and implement strategic initiatives.
• Review, draft, and negotiate complex commercial contracts with customers, intermediaries, and partners.
• Support change projects within L&S that align with business objectives across disciplines.
• Assist operational and commercial teams with daily legal queries.
• Maintain templates, precedents, and know-how materials for the L&S team.
• Provide practical legal solutions as a seasoned business partner.
• Manage external counsel as needed.
• Support senior legal leadership both in the UK and internationally.

Key Requirements

• Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with 5+ years of pragmatic, commercial legal experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial law and drafting skills.
