Job description

We have a new permanent opportunity for a UK-qualified solicitor (around 6 years PQE) with substantial insurance litigation experience, gained in private practice or in-house, to work as a Senior Legal Counsel (Litigation) for a high-profile Lloyd's Insurance market broker in the City of London.

Salary & Benefits: Up to £140,000 plus an excellent range of benefits. This is a hybrid role, requiring presence in the London office at least one day per week. There is also the possibility of working four days per week (pro-rata).

Role Requirements: Experience in the insurance industry is essential, as you will provide legal advice to the senior leadership team, focusing on Errors and Omissions claims (E&O) and commercial disputes. The goal is to minimize legal risk and protect the company's reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage end-to-end E&O matters, including advising, managing, and resolving notified cases, liaising with insurers as needed.
2. Coordinate with Group stakeholders, including the legal team, on E&O issues requiring escalation.
3. Collaborate with other functions to identify E&O trends and implement risk mitigation strategies, evaluating risk factors in business operations.
4. Supervise external legal counsel and control external legal expenses.

Essential Experience:

• In-house experience in the London Insurance market, managing complex disputes, including cross-border cases.
• Expertise in insurance law and coverage disputes, with a focus on the London Market, particularly Lloyd's brokers.
• Preferred: experience handling E&O claims against insurance brokers or professionals.
