Client & Role

My client, a world leader in energy services, with nearly 100,000 employees across more than 50 countries and an annual turnover exceeding 10 billion euros, is seeking a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel to join their growing in-house team.

This hybrid role requires 1 day per week in the office at one of their locations in Leeds, Birmingham, or London.

The role supports the “Places & Communities Division,” a major revenue generator, reporting to the Head of Legal in P&C.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing, negotiating, and drafting agreements, especially for construction, refurbishment, and related services.
• Supporting commercial and contractual matters for tenders, projects, variations, and ongoing operational issues.
• Collaborating with legal and business teams, including business development, commercial, and senior management, as well as external legal advisers and contract counterparties.
• Providing practical, high-quality legal advice that balances legal risks with business needs.

Requirements

• UK-qualified solicitor or barrister with 4-10 years PQE (flexible based on experience quality).
• Understanding of UK construction contracts, including negotiation experience with industry-standard forms like JCT and NEC.
• Experience with public procurement is preferred.
