Job summary

The University of Cumbria invites expressions of interest for a Senior Lecturer in Security, Intelligence and Investigative Practice on a one-year fixed-term basis. This role will lead the development and delivery of our newly validated BSc (Hons) Security, Intelligence and Cyber programme, commencing at our Lancaster campus in September 2027.

The successful candidate will act as Programme Leader, providing academic leadership for the programme and ensuring an outstanding student experience.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality teaching in higher education.
• Ability to build strong industry networks and align curriculum with sector needs.
• Experience leading academic programmes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the new BSc (Hons) Security, Intelligence and Cyber programme at Lancaster from Sep 2027.

• Develop partnerships with external organisations to support recruitment, retention and graduate outcomes.

We are inviting expressions of interest for the role of Senior Lecturer in Security, Intelligence and Investigative Practice on a one-year fixed-term basis. This is also an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of our newly validated BSc (Hons) Security, Intelligence and Cyber programme, which is due to commence at our Lancaster campus in September 2027.

The successful candidate will act as Programme Leader, providing academic leadership for this innovative programme and ensuring an outstanding student experience. Working closely with colleagues across the University and with external partners, you will help shape a contemporary curriculum that reflects the rapidly evolving fields of security, intelligence and cyber, while supporting recruitment, retention, student success and graduate outcomes.

You will bring relevant subject expertise and professional experience in one or more areas of security, intelligence, cyber security, risk, resilience, investigation or related disciplines. You will have experience of delivering high-quality teaching and assessment in higher education, together with the ability to build strong industry networks and ensure that our curriculum remains aligned to current and emerging sector needs.
