Job summary

Birmingham City University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) who is an experienced leader and practitioner, with extensive expertise in supporting and developing trainee teachers within school and/or higher education settings.

You will lead ITT provision, deliver curriculum, foster partnerships, mentor leads, and participate in Open Days and recruitment events. A QTS and ITE leadership experience are essential, plus enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

  • You must have taught in Primary and/ or Secondary Schools and hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • You must have experience of leadership in Initial Teacher Education (ITE).
  • An enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • As a leader of Initial Teacher Education, you will provide curriculum leadership and drive quality assurance across ITT provision.
  • You will lead mentoring to quality assure school-based training and coordinate partnerships with schools and HE contexts.
  • You will participate in Open Days, Get into Teaching events and other recruitment activities to support student intake.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) who is an experienced leader and accomplished practitioner, with extensive expertise in supporting and developing trainee teachers within school and/or higher education settings.

Key Responsibilities

As a leader of Initial Teacher Education, you will have expertise in the evidence-base that underpins the ITT Core Content Framework, Primary and/ or Secondary phase specific expertise related to school curriculum and have a strong track record of curriculum leadership, partnership development, quality assurance and securing trainee teacher QTS outcomes.

This role requires leadership across our teacher training provision working in collaboration with our Primary and Secondary courses to ensure excellent outcomes for our trainee teachers. The role will include curriculum delivery, partnership working and undertaking Lead Mentoring to quality assure school-based training.

You will take part in Open Days, Get into Teaching events, and other key activities, that drive our recruitment as well as engage in continuous professional development sharing good practice across our team.

Essential Requirements

You must have taught in Primary and/ or Secondary Schools and hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

You must have experience of leadership in Initial Teacher Education (ITE).

An enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
