Senior Learning Disability Nurse/Mental Health

We are excited to advertise for a Registered Nurse in the Specialist Learning Disability Service, focusing on mental health and children with Learning Disabilities.

The service comprises Learning Disability nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, and Assistant Practitioners. It offers a range of services for children and adolescents with diagnosed Learning Disabilities and Autism, including assessment, intervention, consultation, liaison, and training for other agencies.

The service supports children and adolescents with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities, especially those with complex behavioral, health, or sleep issues related to their diagnosis.

Please note that training may be considered if you are a registered nurse but do not meet all the essential criteria.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within the Specialist Learning Disability Service, providing support and supervision to clinicians across the service and other pathways.
  • Ensure a strengths-based approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions supporting complex care packages for children with additional needs in the community.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and care planning in collaboration with children, young people, and their carers.
  • Provide assessment, advice, and specialist interventions to children, young people, and families, managing a caseload of children with complex needs and leading on mental health needs for CYP with Learning Disabilities.
  • Utilize and promote evidence-based care in case management of children and young people with highly complex long-term conditions.
