Senior Learning Disability Nurse/Mental Health

We are excited to be advertising for a Registered Nurse for the Specialist Learning Disability Service with a focus on mental health and children with a Learning Disability.

The Service consists of Learning Disability and other registered nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, Occupational Therapists & Assistant Practitioners who offer a range of services for children and adolescents with diagnosed Learning Disabilities and Autism, from assessment and intervention to consultation, liaison, and training for other agencies.

The service can support Children & Adolescents with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities, especially those with complex behavioural, health, or sleep issues related to this diagnosis.

Please note that training may be considered if you are a registered nurse but without all of the essential criteria.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within the Specialist Learning Disability Service, providing support and supervision to clinicians across all pathways
  • Ensure a strengths-based approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for children with additional needs in the community
  • Contribute to risk assessment and care planning in collaboration with children, young people, and their carers
  • Provide assessment, advice, and specialist interventions to children, young people, and their families, leading on mental health needs for CYP with a Learning Disability
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with complex long-term conditions, utilizing evidence-based care
