Job summary

Herefordshire Council seeks a Principal Practitioner to lead the Best Start in Life Inclusion Team within the Early Years SEND Inclusion Service. You will guide practitioners supporting families accessing services and aim to improve outcomes for children with additional needs across Herefordshire.

The role requires Qualified Teacher status with EY teaching experience, leadership skills, and a strong knowledge of EYFS, SEND Code, and Equality Act.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher status and experience of early Years teaching.
• Full UK Driving licence and able to travel across Herefordshire.
• Recent experience of supporting early years children with additional needs.
• Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, the Equality Act (2010) and the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
• Ability to build strong relationships with early years settings and other services.
• To be an excellent leader with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Best Start in Life Inclusion Team with effective leadership and line management.
• Support children and families accessing services, groups and Family Hubs.
• Collaborate across services to improve outcomes for young children with additional needs.
• Develop and deliver high-quality advice and guidance for professionals and families.
• Contribute to the development of the Experts at Hand Service for a coordinated approach.
