Job summary

Experis - ManpowerGroup client in Edinburgh is seeking a Senior Test & Verification Engineer for an initial 6-month contract to own testing across software, hardware and data-driven technologies.

You will build the test function, perform software and system testing, and drive quality across the team, including FAT/SAT activities and AI-assisted testing approaches. Onsite presence in Edinburgh 2-3 days per week is desirable.

Qualifications

• Typically 5+ years in Test, QA or verification engineering, including owning a test strategy rather than just execution.
• Hands on Test Automation in Typescript and/or Python, with tools such as Playwright, Vitest or Pytest
• Experience testing products that combine hardware and software
• Clear Technical writing: Test Plans, procedures, and reports that can withstand external scrutiny

Job description

Our client is looking for a Senior Test & Verification Engineer to join their team for an initial 6 months (Small Business Exempt from IR35) to support on their Product that combines Software, Hardware and data driven technologies. You will be taking ownership of the testing and verification activities, establishing and maturing the testing function while helping to ensure the quality and reliability of complex end to end solutions.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business where testing extends far beyond the software. The successful candidate will be involved in the full product life cycle, from software testing and automation through to hardware software integration, Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing and Real world solution verification.

The organisation has already embraced AI within its development processes and is keen to continue leveraging AI assisted testing approached where appropriate.

Essential skills:

• Typically 5+ years in Test, QA or verification engineering, including owning a test strategy rather than just execution.


• Hands on Test Automation in Typescript and/or Python, with tools such as Playwright, Vitest or Pytest


• Experience testing products that combine hardware and software


• Clear Technical writing: Test Plans, procedures, and reports that can withstand external scrutiny

Desirable:

• Docker


• Experience in safety-regulated or regulated product development and an understanding of the rigour involved: traceability, documented evidence, change control, and formal verification


• Jenkins, Ansible


• Experience writing FAT/SAT procedures


• Familiarity with a functional safety or quality standard such as IEC or ISO9001


• Experience with CI/CD, hardware in the loop testing, or simulation based testing.

Key Information:

• They would love to find someone who is open to travelling nationally/internationally with the role


• Onsite presence in Edinburgh 2-3 days per week would be highly desirable


• Availability: Maximum 2 week notice period, ability to start 28th September/5th October
