Job summary

A synthetic fuel company in the UK seeks a Senior / Lead Process Engineer to design and optimise chemical processes for decarbonising heavy industry. Ideal candidates will have over 5 years of relevant experience, including in CAD and process plant design. A competitive salary between £70K–£100K plus relocation support is offered. The role is based in-person at the headquarters in South London with flexible time-off available.

Qualifications

• Proven capability to review and iterate component selection and plant design.
• Experience in process engineering for electrolyser balance-of-plant systems.
• Ability to conduct safety management including ATEX and HAZOP.

The role

System Architecture and Detailed Engineering Design

• Review and iterate component selection and plant design.
• Process engineering – electrolyser balance‑of‑plant design, gas handling and storage from electrolyser and DAC to meet reactor requirements, reactor system optimisation.
• Process control (e.g PID / SCADA).
• Documentation / SOPs of plant.
• Conduct testing and analysis on current plant to simplify design.

Safety management of plant

• ATEX / HAZOP / COSHH.
• Safety Integrity Level (SIL) analysis.
• Monitoring.

Core skills

• 5+ years professional experience.
• Bachelor’s or Masters in chemical engineering or related field.
• CAD and control system experience.
• Process plant design and operation experience.
