Job summary

Rivan Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own an electrolyser sub-system, from physics to factory rollout. You will design, test, and iterate mechanical systems with a focus on manufacturability, performance, and longevity, coordinating with process, electrical and controls teams.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a strong thermofluids background, and hands-on fabrication. HQ in Bermondsey, London, with relocation support and visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in mechanical/aero or related field.
• System design experience including CAD (SolidWorks), design for manufacture/assembly, part specification and procurement of complex, integrated systems involving moving fluids.
• Hands-on workshop fabrication and build experience.
• Fundamental thermofluids understanding including pressure loss, heat and mass transfer, and two-phase flow.
• Simulation/analytical modelling competency (e.g. python, FEA, CFD).
• Test setup design, running of experiments, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own the concept generation, system architecture, and technical requirements capture.
• Design and iterate electrolyser stack structures and sub-system balance of plant.
• Design test-rigs to validate underlying hypotheses quickly and cheaply.
• Solve complex fluid and thermal problems, including two-phase gas-liquid flow.
• Own and iterate detailed design drawings with our fabrication workshop.
• Work closely with process, electrical and controls engineers to integrate the complete system.
• Liaise with external vendors to support our development and production.

We’re looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to own one of our electrolyser sub-systems to drive that forward, tasked with uncovering new ways of thinking about our system integration, performance, longevity, and manufacturability. The role

Own the design and manufacture of an entire Rivan sub-system, from physics and chemistry, to rolling out of the factory door.

Own mechanical design of an electrolyser sub-system, from early stage physics and chemistry, through detailed design, build and commissioning. We need you to:
