Job summary

Salford City Council in Greater Manchester is recruiting a Principal Planning Officer to join the Development Management team on a permanent basis. You will manage a caseload of complex, major applications and work with applicants, architects and agents to secure high-quality development and timely reports.

You will provide pre-application advice, prepare written and oral evidence for appeals, and supervise junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Planning degree and RTPI membership eligibility.
• Experience with major applications and pre-application advice.
• Ability to lead, supervise and mentor junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of major planning applications.
• Provide robust planning reports and recommendations.
• Present evidence at appeals and inquiries when required.
• Support service improvements and team collaboration.
