Senior/Lead Construction Planner
We are searching for an experienced Senior/Lead Construction Planner to initially support two strategic tenders for a key client for major infrastructure developments in a tightly regulated environment. The role is a hybrid role with an anticipated three days from home and two days in the office.
As a Senior or Lead Construction Planner you will be responsible for owning the construction programme, working with the Bid Team to create and drive the development of the schedule and associated materials that will form a key foundation of our overall bid. Once the project moves into the execution phase, you will be responsible for owning and updating the schedule, ensuring it remains a robust model of the project and is communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of tender schedules from ITT documents, liaising with key disciplines and stakeholder
- Integrating multi-disciplinary input into the construction schedule, facilitated by interactive planning workshops to derive the optimum construction sequence
- Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget
- Establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures aligned to project scope
- Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan embraces the full project work scope, is fit for purpose and is achievable
- Maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance
- Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project’s baseline plan, plus the implications of such changes, are understood and communicated to the wider project team
- Assess delays and produce supporting information for any applications for Extensions of Time or similar
- Identifying and integrating discrete risks to construction, and assessing duration uncertainty to execute Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis in, for example, Primavera Risk Analysis or similar
Qualifications:
- Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in a Construction discipline or relevant equivalent experience
- CSCS Managers Card or similar level
Experience:
- Experience across project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes)
- Experience of working on brownfield sites delivering EPC/ EPCm projects for Transmission clients or similar
- Experience of working on large complex capital projects in tightly regulated industries is essential, preferably on large transmission infrastructure schemes for e.g. National Grid etc. and knowledge of the various standards required (knowledge of NGET scheduling standard – NG/ET/SR193 would be a definite plus)
- Strong background in liaising with engineering and procurement teams to ensure the construction strategy is embedded in engineering and procurement delivery
- Extensive experience on Primavera (P6)
- Ability to challenge, support and coach teams through challenging discussions to achieve high level of buy-in to the schedule strategy
- Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment such as Transmission or equivalent
