Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Lead Child Protection Practitioner (MACPT) to provide specialist safeguarding expertise and leadership. You will chair strategy discussions, oversee Child Protection Conferences and ensure timely, defensible decisions across agencies.

The role requires a Qualified Social Worker with current registration, extensive post-qualifying experience in child protection, and the ability to coordinate complex multi-agency meetings.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Expert knowledge of child protection law, statutory guidance and local procedures.
• Proven ability to lead and chair complex multi-agency safeguarding meetings.

Responsibilities

• Chair strategy discussions and Child Protection Conferences.
• Oversee Section 47 enquiries and child protection plans.
• Support safeguarding partners to make timely and defensible decisions.
• Build confidence across Family Help, social care, police and health.
