Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer for its Advanced AI Engineering team. You will help evaluate AI technologies, build MVPs, and hand over solutions for scalable adoption within a regulated financial services environment.

You will join the Data & AI Unit within the CTO, guiding engineering teams, transferring knowledge, and shaping the AI technology strategy to deliver customer‑facing AI products and services at scale.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering production‑grade technology solutions in complex environments.
• Strong software engineering expertise with proficiency in at least two programming languages.
• Deep applied AI/ML and Generative AI experience, including GenAI patterns and tool use.
• Experience designing and operating AI solutions within regulated environments with emphasis on reliability, security and explainability.
• Ability to translate ambiguous challenges into clear technical direction, MVPs and scalable engineering solutions.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and mentor engineers while engaging senior stakeholders on technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business and platform teams to identify priority problems and adoption bottlenecks, focusing on customer‑facing AI solutions in a regulated environment.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and approaches through applied research and rapid prototyping.
• Lead engineering and delivery of operational MVPs addressing critical business challenges and scalable adoption.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor guiding teams in GenAI and Agentic AI.
• Coach and mentor engineers to develop capability and adopt AI patterns and practices.
• Influence business and technology strategy by demonstrating the art of the possible and value through AI innovation.
