Job summary

Ronald James is seeking a Senior PHP Full Stack Developer to join our Newcastle-based team. You will design and build scalable backend services in Laravel, owning core service logic and engaging with third-party integrations.

You’ll work alongside DevOps and QA to refine CI/CD, testing, and deployments, while contributing to frontend improvements with Livewire and modern tooling. You will collaborate across teams, maintain Docker environments, and help drive technical direction for the platform

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with PHP 8.0+ and Laravel 10+.
• Experience across the full stack including Blade, Livewire, and modern frontend tooling.
• Solid MySQL database design/optimisation; Redis for caching/queues.
• Experience with Docker/docker-compose; background job processing.
• Git workflows, PRs, peer reviews; CI practices.
• Able to work independently on large tasks and contribute to technical direction.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Testing and QA mindset, with PHPUnit exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services in a Laravel environment.
• Own service-layer logic; implement modular solutions for integrations.
• Improve queue handling, reliability, and error management for async processes.
• Collaborate with DevOps/QA on CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Maintain Docker-based development environments and queue workers.
• Identify and remediate technical debt; ensure production readiness.
• Support system integrations via third-party APIs.
• Contribute to code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Assist frontend tooling with Livewire, TailwindCSS, and Vite.
• Stay updated on Laravel ecosystem and technical improvements.
