Job summary

Shoptimised is seeking an experienced Senior Laravel Developer to join our development team in Newcastle. You will help transition our platform toward a microservices architecture, taking ownership from requirements to deployment in a hands-on, full-stack role.

You’ll work primarily with PHP and Laravel, with frontend involvement using Livewire, VueJS and Blade. Join a small, collaborative team and contribute ideas, make technical decisions, and shape the future of our platform.

Qualifications

• Senior Laravel developer with PHP 8.2+ and Laravel 10+ experience.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining microservices in production.
• Proficient with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and queue-based systems.
• Experience with testing, logging, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work across the full stack, including frontend when needed.
• Confidence in taking ownership of projects and collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing Laravel-based services as we move towards a microservices architecture.
• Helping move functionality from the monolith into smaller, manageable services.
• Taking ownership of development work from requirements through deployment.
• Identifying technical debt and improving quality and maintainability of code.
• Working with queues, background processing and asynchronous workflows.
• Improving processes, logging and monitoring for reliability.
• Introducing and improving PHPUnit test coverage for new and existing features.
• Collaborating with QA and Product to deliver features and improvements.
• Supporting developers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Staying up to date with Laravel developments and proposing improvements.
