Shoptimised is seeking an experienced Senior Laravel Developer to join our development team in Newcastle. You will help transition our platform toward a microservices architecture, taking ownership from requirements to deployment in a hands-on, full-stack role.

You’ll work primarily with PHP and Laravel, with frontend involvement using Livewire, VueJS and Blade. Join a small, collaborative team and contribute ideas, make technical decisions, and shape the future of our platform.

Qualifications

• Senior Laravel developer with PHP 8.2+ and Laravel 10+ experience.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining microservices in production.
• Proficient with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and queue-based systems.
• Experience with testing, logging, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work across the full stack, including frontend when needed.
• Confidence in taking ownership of projects and collaborating with a team.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Senior Laravel Developer to join our development team at Shoptimised and help us with the next stage of our platform's development. We're a growing eCommerce SaaS business based in Newcastle, and we've got some exciting projects ahead. One of our main focuses is moving away from our existing monolithic architecture towards a micro-services approach, so we're looking for someone with the experience and confidence to get involved and help us make that happen.

This is a hands-on, full-stack development role, primarily working with PHP and Laravel, but you'll also get involved in frontend development using Livewire, VueJS and Blade. We're a small development team, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to contribute your own ideas, get involved in technical decisions and take ownership of your work. You'll work closely with our Lead Developer and the rest of the team, and we're looking for someone who's happy to share their knowledge and get stuck in.

What you'll be doing

There's a good mix of work involved in this role, from developing new services and features to improving our existing platform.

• Designing and developing Laravel-based services as we move towards a microservices architecture.

• Taking ownership of development work from initial requirements through to deployment.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with strong technical experience who is comfortable working independently, but equally enjoys being part of a team.

• Strong commercial experience with PHP 8.2+ and Laravel 10+.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining microservices in a production environment.
• Good working knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and queue-based systems.
• A good understanding of how to build reliable, maintainable applications.
• Experience with testing, logging, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• The ability to work across the full stack, including frontend development when needed.
• Confidence in taking ownership of projects and working through technical challenges.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to share ideas and knowledge with the team.

A bit about us

Shoptimised was created when our founders, who were running a PPC agency, couldn't find an affordable product feed optimisation platform that did everything they needed. So, they built their own! Since then, we've grown into an established eCommerce SaaS business, helping retailers and agencies improve and manage their product feeds.

We're a relatively small business, with a close-knit team and plenty of plans for the future. Our development team is currently making some changes to how we work. We've recently introduced a new four-week development cycle, with dedicated time for development, testing, fixes and planning. We're also reviewing how we approach technical work as we continue to develop the platform.
