Job summary

Senior CAMHS LAC Professional Lead - Band 7

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in Barking & Dagenham. You will work with CAMHs and across targeted services to meet the significant needs of our looked after children population, making a difference to their lived experience and providing them with tools to enter adult life healthy and well adapted.

The post holder will ensure best practice of clinical standards within the triage and pathway functions of community CAMHS, working closely with other healthcare professionals within the CAMHS multidisciplinary team in line with the I-Thrive framework for supporting children and young people.

The candidate must be a registered professional (nurse, social worker, or allied health professional) with experience working with children in care. Responsibilities include undertaking assessments and brief interventions for Looked After children within CAMHS triage capacity, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and multi-agency partners.

You will ensure the delivery of the LAC care pathway and prioritize assessments of looked after children within CAMHS, working in conjunction with the LAC team.

The post holder will supervise students in their final year of placement within the service.

Main duties of the job
  1. Prioritize your daily workload and ensure CIC referrals are appropriately managed, liaising with the LAC nursing team and paediatricians for effective communication and collaboration.
  2. Provide support, clinical advice, and guidance to the team regarding the treatment of children in care.
  3. Undertake assessments of children in care and their support networks to identify and meet mental health and wellbeing needs, through face-to-face and telephone consultations, and attend professional meetings as appropriate, sharing information with consent.
  4. Offer brief interventions, advice, and guidance to children and their support networks as needed.

Probationary Period

This role is subject to a probation period, exempt for internal applicants unless currently in probation or bank staff.

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This role attracts a 15% HCAS, ranging from £4,551 to £5,735 annually.
