Job summary

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Senior Technician - Analytical Science for a leading multi-national FMCG client based in Reading. This is an initial 12 months contract position and the pay rate is £17.09 per hour PAYE.

The role will perform routine analyses, schedule and report results, and operate lab equipment. It involves HPLC and IC techniques, with potential training in GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, LC-MS and Wet Chemistry.

Qualifications

• Degree in a scientific subject.
• Some experience working in an analytical lab environment.
• Hands-on lab work experience; ideally IC and/or HPLC.
• Experience working to stringent Quality Control systems.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organized and capable of multi-tasking across activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service by ensuring effective organisation of workload and timely, accurate results.
• Perform a range of routine analytical work.
• Follow validation protocols for analytical activities.
• Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
• Be proficient with LIMS, ELN, QPulse and software packages (OpenLab, Chromeleon, Chemstation, MassHunter, MassLynx).
• Provide training in routine activities and methods.
• Perform lab administration and housekeeping duties as directed.
• Cross-train and work in different laboratories as required.
• Work as part of an efficient analytical team.
• Assist in preparation of client quotes.

The role at Senior Technician is to be responsible for performing a range of routine analyses ensuring that projects are completed effectively and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. Schedule and perform chemical analysis and report work in accordance with the quality standards. This role focuses on the analysis of products using techniques such as HPLC and IC and may also include training in GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, LC-MS and Wet Chemistry methods.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

• Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.
• Perform a range of routine analysis.
• To perform analytical work following validation protocols.
• Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
• Be proficient in the use of generic software packages including Laboratory’s LIMS system, ELN and QPulse and a range of specific software packages required for the role such as OpenLab, Chromeleon, Chemstation, MassHunter and MassLynx.
• Provide training in routine activities and methods.
• Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
• Will be expected to cross train and work in different laboratories if the demand is required.
• Work as part of an efficient analytical team.
• Participate in the preparation of client quotes.

Education/Experience

• Qualifications required: Degree in a scientific subject
• Level of experience: Some experience working in an analytical lab environment.
• Hands on lab work experience. Ideally IC and/or HPLC experience.
• Experience working to stringent Quality Control systems.
• Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
