Job summary

Stott and May Inc. is seeking a Senior kdb+ Engineer to join a fast-paced technology environment in London. You will lead the delivery of high-performance time-series systems and design scalable kdb+ architectures capable of handling billions of rows of data.

You will mentor junior developers, collaborate with quants and traders, and own the full development lifecycle—from development to deployment and ongoing maintenance—while driving continuous improvement in kdb+, q, and related technologies.

Qualifications

• Hands on experience with kdb+ development, deep expertise in q and time-series data
• Proven experience designing kdb+ architectures and scaling in production
• Strong Unix/Linux and scripting experience
• Demonstrated technical leadership and decision-making in fast-paced projects
• Excellent communication to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in capital markets or investment banking

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across projects, setting high standards for quality, performance, and maintainability
• Design and implement robust kdb+ architectures capable of handling billions of rows of time-series data
• Develop high-performance q code and optimise systems for scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with quants, traders, analysts, and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into efficient technical solutions
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers, helping to drive technical excellence
• Own the full development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation, keeping up to date with developments across kdb+, q, and related technologies
