Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a highly technical, hands-on Senior Java Web Engineer to join an engineering team building enterprise-scale applications. You will maintain and enhance backend services and web interfaces while contributing to modern digital platforms and UI components.

In a collaborative Agile environment, you will work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, high-quality software solutions, while staying current with cutting-edge technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent Software Engineering qualification.
• Candidates must currently reside in the UK.
• Experience with Java, Spring, REST, React and relational databases is required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and implementation of backend services and web applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in technical design discussions with senior engineers and architects.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend services with UI components.
• Support troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization of applications.
• Break down user stories into technical tasks and deliver within timelines.
• Collaborate in Agile teams with product owners, QA, and other developers.
• Maintain and improve existing systems ensuring stability and reliability.
