Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Test Engineer to design and build Java-based automation frameworks and drive quality alongside developers and product owners. You will work within an agile delivery team, bringing a strong focus on crafting robust test solutions and maintaining high standards of code quality.

You will deliver automated test coverage across UI, API, and integration layers, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable releases.

Qualifications

• Strong Java skills and ability to build, review and own Java-based test automation frameworks.
• Experience designing automation frameworks using Java with hands-on Selenium/Playwright/Cypress/Karate.
• Solid experience delivering automated test coverage across functional, API, and integration testing with overnight pipelines.
• Experience automating tests within CI/CD pipelines and maintaining quality gates.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an Agile environment, with knowledge of test strategies and planning.
• Residency in the UK for 5+ years with limited time outside the UK for SC eligibility, or current Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java-based automation frameworks from scratch.
• Deliver automated test coverage across functional, cross-browser, API, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Build and extend API test suites using frameworks like Karate or REST-assured.
• Define and execute test strategies and scripts across agile delivery cycles.
• Support development teams by writing and automating tests to guide development.
• Perform front-end cross-browser testing and exploratory testing as needed.
• Record defects accurately and drive root cause analysis.
• Improve test environments, CI/CD integration, and testing processes.
• Provide test estimates and contribute to planning with evidence-based effort.
