Job summary

PVH (Tommy Hilfiger/Calvin Klein) is seeking a hands-on Payments Engineer specialized in Java to join a hybrid London team. You will help build real-time, low-latency payment platforms and contribute across the full software lifecycle in a high-performance environment.

You will design scalable microservices, work with Kafka/JMS/Akka for event-driven architectures, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and client teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing Java 11+ applications, ideally Java 17+.
• Experience building scalable Spring Boot microservices.
• Solid understanding of payments and real-time processing.
• Proven background with event-driven architectures and messaging (Kafka, JMS, Akka).
• Experience with TDD/BDD and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, ideally MongoDB.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance Java applications for real-time payment processing.
• Build scalable, event-driven microservices and APIs.
• Develop asynchronous, message-driven systems focused on resilience and performance.
• Design and evolve distributed system architectures for reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams and clients to deliver technical solutions.
• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Operate within Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery teams.
